#41334 - RE: Industrial way to use 8051 and flash ? Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Yes, this what I was speaking about...
ISP chips are very very very interresting in most of applications I'm thinking. But sometimes I would use some other chips for their special feature. But, I can't affort to put an external EPROM for the code, the system should have embedded flash for the purpose I've explained in previous posts. Then if we have a uC with an external flash, a way to have a kind of IAP would allow to use these chips as if they were ISP. The methods I've seen are : - uC with bootvector in internal ROM programmed by the provider and external flash for the code. The issue is that it's not possible to update the bootvector - external EPROM for bootvector and external flash for code... Too expensive... - Bootvector in external flash, but how to programm it the first time ? Well, do you see more precisely what I mean ? Regards Stephane |
