hi mR Raghunathan,

you can i see, i have connected 470 ohm directly from the adj pin to the ground, if you see the internal block diagram of the LM317 , Adj pin is the anode of the reference zener diode, , connecting it trough 470 ohms make sure that 50 ua flows othe wise output jumps to the higher values. normaly when relay is off 1.3 volts appears at the out put, when i need 3 volts i'll drive the realy , in transition period adj remains at the 470*50*10e-6 volts untill contact is made so no unstability at the transtion period. The reason i connected it like this is when i dont need the divider no current flows into to the divider.

i made few changes to circuit , u can reread that post again.
