I have an Eval board for the '1211 and have used the external RAM, but for my programs, the internal RAM has more than sufficed.

I attribute this to to some well thought out features, for instance, the summation register.

This architectural element has save a lot of otherwise necessary RAM and CPU cycles. Thank you Burr Brown oops..TI.
