Thank you for your help,...OK the detector I am using is from radio shack it's a small metal box 3 lead...I have it running to a basic BJT(not sure if it's needed) then to a digin...I am getting data to the program but none of it looks consistant...now the program I am running is just to test and has no timer...if the output goes high it prints a 1 if low then it prints a 0..I have tried to use transistions also but the data still looks random..or atleast nothing I could run through a decision structure...I had the detector running straight into the digin before, now it won't work that way so I am not sure if I need a new one or not...
