#8043 - RE: IR please help... |
Hi Daxx,
I got interested in this thread at work today - my CAD program was giving me a head-ache! It may be that the filter (+/-40kHz) in your detector maybe too tight for any kind of remote control device - you will discover this in time, perhaps. I have used TDA4050 TV-type IR detectors as eyes for some robots I built - no filter at all, as they had to receive 5 & 10kHz modulation of IR leds (headlights & beacon) - I used SN567 things for detection. (BTW, if any of you get involved with simple robot vision, make the eyes as sensitive as possible, & mask the (hi-power) leds to put light only where you need it!). To test your device, spend a few bucks on a universal IR transmitter, & clone it to known makes & models. This way, you can see if it works for a range of devices. Good luck, & keep having fun!
