Since PRINT is your code you must be doing it in BASIC or some such thang, and that is your problem. The code to send a char across the RS232 port IN ASSEMBLER is about 10uS with a 11.0595 MHz crystal. This leaves another 10uS for the IR read if the IR is running 50kHz. I believe BASICally that no BASIC code will run that fast, it will be possible, but a real squeeze in assembler.
