#78572 - RE: motivating... Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Thus I trow away any complicated programmer stuff and use exclusively only such microcontrollers, which need no programmers at all. E.g.:
- AT89S8252 (SPI over LPT1) - T89C51CC01 (Bootloader) - P89C668 (Bootloader) - LPC2106 (Bootloader) - C8051F02 (JTAG) - ATMega8 (LPT1 to insert my own bootloader instantly) So instead of a single universal programmer how many different cables and connections do you have? Please accept, that former EPROM techniques are totally outdated today. Even so it is not a bad idea to have a universal programmer on-hand. For example, the AT89S8252 has a lock bit that will disable further programming via SPI. If that lock bit gets set--either accidentally or on purpose--the game is over. Unless you can insert it into a universal programmer and erase the chip using parallel access. To me a universal programmer is like a cell phone. I don't use it every day but it's good to have in an emergency. Regards, Craig Steiner |
