#87776 - MCU51 side
Responding to: ???'s previous message
hi,

Thus for bigger Flash as the 2051/4051 or ISP capability I use the ATMega8.

Why? If you need with more flash and ISP without other extra requirements then I do not see a reason to switch on different core. If someone needs MCU51 just with more flash then he may select another MCU51 derivative. It helps him to keep software with minimum changes and stay at root of programming he "knows-as".

As about AVR so firstly it is off-topic. Secondly, I do not see a reason to use this core in the whole. Potential problem I see is that AVR-based derivatives are produced only by Atmel. If due some reason they will stop it then someone must do port of all his software to different core which takes [huge] work.

By the way: as it is off-topic so I will not compare AVR vs MCU51. Let say, stop here.

Regards,
Oleg
