#88321 - nbot a pity Responding to: ???'s previous message |
a few days ago, Jan asked; "Haven't you considered a 89C2051-pin-compatible model in the LPC9xx family?"
The "pity" Jan posted above is a reaction to a "no" from a Philips person. I see no reason for sadness Isn't it great that Philips makes the best parts they can, instead of worrying about pinout compatibility? Isn't it great that the power is centered to minimize power lead inductance? Isn't it natural for a developer to use same component in an existing development and the best choice of chip when designing new. Is there ANY reason for Philips to believe that pin compatiblity would sell multi-millions of chips, Philips has no other reason, they are a business. Erik |
