#90100 - Well... Responding to: ???'s previous message |
"Yes, that is very, very likely!"
But completely stupid on an 8 bit microcontroller. "The 'C' programming language always assumes that everything is int unless specifically told otherwise." Keil don't always subscribe to the letter of the law in this area. "That's why Keil has an option to specifically turn off the automatic ANSI integer promotions!" I haven't investigated in any detail, but I think you may find that 'ANSI integer promotions' as implemented by Keil do not do quite what you might expect. In particular, their documentation gives the impression that the only time 'ANSI integer promotion' occurs is within expressions in an if() statement. "If your compiler has int as 16 bits, this is very bad news on an 8051!" 'C' requires an integer to be at least 16 bits. |
