On Eproms,I always found that if I burnt them to all 0s before erasure, and equalised the charges on all the cells, they lasted essentially forever, but If I didn't, you were lucky to get 20 erasure cycles.

I have never played with FLASh devices like that, but I wonder if they behave the same?
