on them in school 15+ years ago? None of my professors said anything about capacitance, just connections. Margarit didn't say it had to be fast.
It is not how fast it has to be, it is how fast the components are. OK it is not really how fast they are but how steep rise and fall is, but how fast is related to that. 15 years ago risetimes were (if I remember corrctly) in tens of nanoseconds and into low impedances, where today 10ns is considered slow and the impedance is high. It is a misconception that the clock speed matters, running a fast chip on a slow clock does not change the risetime and does thus not alleviate the problem. Erik |
