Present moderation policy seems fine. Off-topic can have a vast meaning so in my opinion, off-topic should be only technical and it should either be allowed or completely banned. Does it make any difference if someone is asking about info on load cells and he measures weight with a PIC or 8051? (in the PIC case, we don't hesiate to flood the post with "-1 Off topic") while the question is actually about load cell. This is just one example.
Occasional off-topic is not justifed since such threads are sometimes ignored and sometimes closed/deleted. In such situation no moderator can save himslef from criticism. If you must allow non-techincal off-topics, a separate section would be fine. |
