#98357 - Works here
Responding to: ???'s previous message

The program code given above does not give any errors in assembler and does display HELLO on top line perfectly fine but as I am trying to display 'J' in bottom line, it simply does not.

I just tried your program here on my SBC. It worked fine. "HELLO" appears on the first line and "J" appears on the second. The only change I made was to change the pin assignments for E, RS and RW to be compatible with where they are on my hardware and I changed the CALLs to LCALLs (not that that should matter if your assembler accepts "CALL").

Could you tell us what happens when you run the program? Does the letter "J" appear anywhere at all? Or what exactly do you see on the LCD when you run it? We'll need a little more information about what you're seeing happen to give us a better chance of offering suggestions.

I once had the high bit of the LCD data bus shorted to (I believe) the second highest bit and that caused problems with positioning the cursor.

Regards,
Craig Steiner
