I think some people might not know the exact situation here in India.

Here a MAX6818 is locally NOT AVAILABLE. Neither are its counterparts from other companies (like EDE2008). If you want it, you'll have to import it. The last time I checked out Maxim's website the cost was around $ 3.31 a piece

That is if I buy 100 of them. And it costs me at least 10 dollars to import them. And the AT89C51 costs $0.80. So Maxim is simply too expensive for me.
