Isn't that bondout chip an MCU? It's certainly not the one in the target.
yes it is, but it is not running a monitor Better, tell that to the guys who sell 'em! They have a tentacle into the target system and monitor it through that, but still do the trace, etc, through their "emulation software." If the "tentacle into the target system" does not, in any way, affect the system under 'ICE passive' conditions (of course it will if you set a breakpoinr) then it will qualify. Now some so called ICEs DOES affect the operation (e.g. uses the serial port, affect I/O, affect execution throughput, ...) and all I have to say about that is: "If I took some defecattion and labelled it 'butter' would that make it butter?"
