This is like any other tool.

asm is a hand drill. You can make a hole with it with some effort.

BASIC is a hand held electric drill. OK the '63 vintage was steam-powered... Easier work but limited capabilities and inconvenient for substantial and long-sustained work.

Visual BASIC (and other similar) is an atempt to mount that drill into some fixture for more precise work, maybe turn it into a lathe...

C is a good old milling machine. Precise (most of the time), comfortable, but expensive. Can be used for drilling and a zillion of other things. Can go easily wrong if improperly used. One needs to learn a bit to use them properly.

Of course, there are also modern NC machines... :-)
