 		 #133945 - Only lower line of LCD is showing!

As per pin assignment of my LCD Module (JHD 162A), I connected pin1(GND): 0V, pin2(VDD): +5V & pin3(VEE): thru Resistor(820 Ohms) to Ground. But, than it is showing only Lower line of Blocks.. So, now, does it mean LCD is damaged?
