However, I did notice that I was using 300-ohm resistors with my LEDs, and grounding the LEDs with the chip.
The big question, then, is whether I damaged my chips (samples, so no enormous problems there) by passing something like 16 or 17 mA when the data sheet rates them for 300 uA. I do not know much about your chip any more (have not used Dallas for ages) except it is supposed to be a 'drop-in'. As a 'drop-in' it must be capable of sinking much more than 300 uA. Revisit the datasheet and look for IportLow (or whatever the Dallas abbreviation may be for port current sinking). Erik |
