Can you try a different one - preferrably from a different supplier? I've tried at least a dozen crystals and ceramic resonators. Strangely, they will work with the 89S51/52 circuit with no problems in the same breadboard. But, first, you might want to move to a soldered protoboard, or, for experiment, to solder at least the crystal and the capacitors directly to the '2051's pins (from the top). I certainly haven't tried this (direct soldering) yet. You should also take care about the power supply - don't forget to put a capacitor directly accross GND/VCC pins of the '2051 I'm using a pretty standard home-made 7805-based power supply. I've used several cap values up to 2200µF... (you may try to solder it directly on the top parts of the pins, too). Ditto -- tried no direct soldering yet. Breadboards are sometimes a crap. Granted, but why should it work with the S51 and not with the C2051? |
