You'll need to study the details on the EPROM in question, but most of the 28-pin parts (Now, these are EPROMs, and not EEPROMs, FLASH, etc) are pretty easy to program. Atmel Application Note ANM076, "C51 In-System FLASH Programming" shows how to use an 8051 to program an external Flash EEPROM: http://www.atmel.com/dyn/resou...15593f.pdf It's listed as "In-system Programming with C51 MCU and External Flash (24 pages, updated 01/00)" on their 8051 Architecture - Application Notes page: http://www.atmel.com/dyn/produ...rogramming Richard Erlacher said:
Basically, I'd say that, if you can't figure out how to do it from the datasheets, you probably shouldn't attempt it. Quite so. The above application note should give you a way to write a Flash EEPROM - you would then have to study the EPROM datasheets to work-out what programming voltages, pulses, waveforms, etc are needed, and adapt the circuit accordingly... Or maybe you'd just realise that it's not worth it, and stick with Flash...! |
