#145746 - pin driver not necessary... Responding to: ???'s previous message |
... for a single-purpose device ("EPROM programmer").
This is exactly how a lot of EPROM programmers was designed in the past - they were not universal pindrivers, rather, they had dedicated data and address bus and control signals, and power switches to only a few pins (to support the 2-3 common pin numbers of EPROMs). Of course, they then could be used as universal device programmers only using adapters; but that's an another issue. JW PS. <advertisement>I know of no obsolete device my favorite <$$$$$ Elnec universal programmer could not program; and if such occurred in the past, they were very quick in implementing it on request (read: a couple of days, if they can dig out the programming specs and a specimen to test on). I admit you have to buy adapters for non-DIL packages but that's still in the $$$ range. They may lack the "mission critical" label the $$$$$+ DataIO gadget you mentioned possesses, I admit.</advertisement> |
