#55365 - RE: RS 485 Power supply . Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Hi Erik,
>>Standards are there for a purpose. I never mentioned in my posts to fault the standards. On the contrary, I mentioned Sanjeev,s proposal of using a xxx232 (5V IC) at 3.3V will not meet the RS232's signal requirements. Erik, I totally understand and agree to what you are trying to convey. If I am in a similar position like Sanjeev I would go for an appropriate ckt even if cost me more. But, my recomendation of using a transistor based ckt was because he can't get those recommended exotic chips in India (which I am very well aware of) and wanted a solution. >>once more: "the fact that something "works" is no proof that it is right" "works" was an expression. BTW, is it compulsary to use any specific ICs to meet the standard? My understanding is that as long as the ckt (whether IC or transistor based) meets the standard it should be allright. Please, correct me if I am wrong. regards, |
