But I don't run it at full speed (not yet anyway). So I think I do need a lot of logic - or a very fast controller. The current datarate is 375kB/s making the clockspeed about 3MHz. So a SAB-C501 at 11.0592MHz is not fast enough without a bit of assistance... Sounds like it's time for a logic analyser to see what your circuit is actually doing as opposed that what you think it's doing!! I don't have one available (perhaps I should visit the nice people in the lab at the university), but I have had a look with my scope. And as far as I can see everything looks like I think it should.
