"Sadly you are correct, but who will fix the design when it comes time to put it into production? You get what you pay for. Cheap pay, cheap design."
Yes, and I think this is great for consumer electronics. The stuff is so cheap now you can just chuck it in the bin when it starts to get a bit flaky. No more repair bills from overpaid and underskilled service 'engineers'. "I fear the CEOs have their blinders on and are looking at the short term instead of the long term." That's because they are paid to meet short term targets. Have you noticed that CEOs don't usually remain in one job for more than a few years? That's because the CEO jobcycle goes like this: 1) Accept huge golden hello to join company X. 2) End of first year - receive huge bonus for cutting overheads. [50% of staff fired.] 3) End of second year - receive huge bonus for increasing profitability. [Sales are down, but so are overheads. Result - better margins.] 4) End of third year - receive huge bonus for reducing company debt. [Sold off the few remaining profitable parts of the company.] 5) End of fourth year - receive huge payoff for early termination of contract. [Destruction of company complete. Job well done!] 6) Attend interview for position of CEO of company Y. [In my previous post I slashed overheads, increased profitability, reduced debt and restructured the company.] Receive huge golden hello to take up new post. 7) End of fifth year - company X goes bust amid accounting scandal. Receive huge bonus for cutting overheads at company Y. [50% of staff fired.] And on and on and on. "How will we defend ourselves if all of our missles, jets, tanks are made in China?" Just exactly when did the US last use its weapons in any sort of _defensive_ capacity? |
