I took a look at the Dallas 1-WireTM offerings after thinking about how big the wire bundle is going to be for 60 lights on each floor... Mahmood could use the DS2408 to control 8 lights each. You would have eight of these per floor on a pc board. This would would be 400 of these devices connected together. The DS2408 costs $2.70USD which works out to about $0.34USD per light. Add another $0.15USD for the light, $0.50USD for the pc board, $1.00USD for connectors, and $0.50USD for transsistors and pullup resistors. Total ~$6.00USD for each pc board. So just in material costs we have $2400USD. If the customer is willing to pay for individual light control, he is going to pay a pretty high price for that luxury. But if the customer insists on individual light control, I would definitely use the Dallas 1-WireTM devices, the headaches saved from wiring it alone would be worth it. Jacob |
