#73344 - 1-Wire? I2C? SPI? Responding to: ???'s previous message |

I would definitely use the Dallas 1-WireTM devices, the headaches saved from wiring it alone would be worth it. As I admitted earlier, I originally overlooked the fact that we're talking about a model building here. Obviously, it'd be impractical to run I2C or SPI all around a real 50-storey building; but, depending on the scale, it may well work for this model. This opens up a whole load more options for the lamp drivers; eg, just sticking with Maxim, the MAX6957 (SPI) and MAX6956 (I2C) drive 28 lamps at up to 24mA each - so no need for the extra transistors! And they're only a few cents more that the 1-Wire switches! They even do a free download to drive 'em from a PC: http://www.maxim-ic.com/appnotes....umber/1142 |
