I am not flaming or anything like that, but this, to an extent, has turned into a "how do I avoid doing the right thing (4 layers)" discussion.

And I hope I'm not flaming either, if I remember that in many countries situation in terms of fabrication of PCBs might not be as nice as in the USA. Multilayer boards can be very very costly at certain countries in the world...

Nevertheless, many points discussed here are also valid with four layer boards.
