#85304 - amplifying port output signal to 12v dc |
I am trying to convert a 0 to 5volt 40khz output signal from the microcontroller up to 0 to 12 volts. I am currently experimenting with a npn bi-polar transistor. I am feeding the 40khz signal through a 5k resistor to the gate, then using a 10k pull up to 12vcc on the collector side taking the output.
I am using a function generator to simulate this before i build. While i am using a normal (common) squarewave output to the gate the output is being amplified correctly. HOWEVER, when i change the output of the function generator to TTL (to simulate the microcontroller ??) the output of the transistor will not drop to zero, it is just staying at 12v level. Does anybody know why this is happening. Is the TTL using less current? |
