Dear Rob:
You're using a 2SC1815 .......( you said that ). You've a 5k base resistor. You've a 10k from colector to +12Vcc. All that must work ! 1- You're naming "gate" the base of transistor, so let me ask you, if your Generator/MCU GND is the same of the 12Vcc Gnd, and if the emitter of the transistor is connected to the common GND? 2- What port are you using to controll the transistor ?? ...I hope not to be P0. ( it's an open collector ). Or....Are you sure that the DC level of your generator goes from 0-Vcc to 5-Vcc ? How did you measure that on oscilloscope ? in DC or AC ? 3- Did you try again ....... You said that: While i am using a normal (common) squarewave output to the gate the output is being amplified correctly Perhaps now you've base-emitter open, so your TR died. check again all please, and Good luck !!!
