is features that I do not need that add to the cost.

I would love to see a SILabs F12x type without the (cost of the) analog section.
I use the F12x extensively because of the speed and use absolutotally no analog.

It seems that too many manufactureres respond to the "more features - more features" cry and totally leave those of us that need a better, rather than bigger chip behind.

Just take the Philips LPC series. They are supposed to be low cost but where is the "dirt cheap, plain vanilla" in that series. Likewise SILabs insist that a chip must have a ton of analog to be useable, the word that comes to mind start with a 'b'.
