#94589 - Voting system Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Related to this topic, a couple of ideas on the voting system generally: 1. Voting on/off. Even if I placed a couple of votes, I lived happily without it. Displaying the "vote" box for each message (and the "underlying" list) is quite a waste of bandwidth for me. I would like to have a "voting on/off" option in my preferences. 2. Voting page. Clicking on the "Vote" could open a window with much longer voting option list - e.g. adding "+Cool hack" or a couple of "neutral" and/or "warning" votes as per Mehdi's suggestion. A short explanation could be added to the vote - limited similar to message subject to prevent flames. This also reduces overall bandwidth. 3. Anonymity. I don't like it; I would like to know, who placed the votes. It could possibly cut down illogical/emotive votes. 4. Search by votes. I would like to list the latest "good question", "informative" messages, but perhaps also "didn't search first" to get topics for FAQ - maybe also sorted by number of votes. All personal views, arguable. Jan Waclawek |
