You need to review the previous discussions so that you understand the issues involved.

You should also be checking-out the support info for that chip that you're using - does the datasheet say anything about 5V interworking? Do they have any application notes about it? Have you contacted their tech support?

That Maxim article that I cited discusses the issues involved, and shows some possible discrete solutions - it does, of course, go on to talk about Maxim products, but you don't have to use their chips!
