is that I "happened tO read" about the Philips ARMs.

I have not been in the part of the datasheet for the F12x you refer to.

While I applaud those that have the time to dig into how a chip achieves it's speed, I'm happy seeing the speed spec and stop there.

When I need a feature, I want to know THAT it works, I (have reached the point where I) have no interst in HOW it works.

In the olden days, aka my younger days, I was one of those that tried to figure out the innards of chips, those days are long past.
