#119537 - CAT5E - UTP and RS485 Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Can this cable CAT5E - UTP, ie Category 5E, unsheilded twisted pair cable be used for RS485.
I have read so much discussions on the shielded cable for RS485 and networking, I was introduced to the above cable by a person who is incharge of networking in their factory. I think they are probably using ethernet, why is this unsheilded cable used for networking. I am trying to implement USB and RS485, there is a nice silabs chip the CP2103 for this, I went to a shop dealing with networking components and found most of the cables on their shelves were the unsheilded types. So where is this unsheilded twisted pair wires used in such large quantities? The 4 pair per cable is the most popular type. Regards, John. |
