#124996 - The newer they are, the faster they become... Responding to: ???'s previous message |
The newer the micros are, the faster they become and the more they suffer from avoiding a HF-design. Or, by other words, DIL40-package and ZIF-socket is not the right stuff to run an AT89S8252 at 24MHz. It could be, that the oscillator refuses to start, because of unsane inductivity of connections between chip, the quartz and the burden caps. Also, it's difficult to properly decouple Vcc of micro, when using a ZIF-socket. I guess, the AT89S8252 will properly work with a suited layout.
Try to avoid these DIL40-packages! They are a thing of the past. Try to use PLCC, at least. Could you give us a picture of your board, with the ZIF? Kai |
