#133487 - This has gone far enough.
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Richard, don't get me wrong, I am a quite new to embedded, and I respect you as a helping member of 8052 forum with lot of experience. But I've got some mileage beneath my belt and also I don't like being driven in circles.

What I've told you is that (a) unmodified PC's, running, say, a COPY command from the DOS prompt under DOS, not WINDOWS, expect to have the hardware connected in some way.
I wouldn't have argument over this statement, but that was NOT what you have initially told. You have told
PC's require special wiring, i.e. pins 4 and 5, and pins 6, 8, and 20 (based on the DB25 model) have to be connected together, else the PC won't talk.
And that IS quite a different statement. In math there is a very strong distinction between 'neccessary' and 'sufficient'. In a way, you make handshake 'neccessary' while they are 'sufficient' and that is the source of the argument as far as I am concerned.

I've asked you to confirm or oppose my statements in previous posts and even provided you with reference numbers. In spite of the fact that you have quoted my entire post you have not made a single reference afterwards. What's the catch?

I see no point in running in circles with you. It is not interesting and not informative any more. Summary of issues I'm trying to point out are in my previous post, you have not addressed a single one of them. We can't talk this way so I rest my case.

Best luck,
CN
