#145765 - reasons
Responding to: ???'s previous message
I know they have chips that have the same pinout but different innards. Do they not have any that are 100% 8051? Why stay away?
1) My reason: When I reported a bug in the original '51 they made 'about' rev g they denied the existence "Atmel do not ship defective products" and in a letter (this was before e-mail)
to the management of the company I worked for stated "we can not respond to statements from incompetent persons". Oddly enough in the errata 'about' rev s stated that the bug I reported was fixed.
2) Richard Erlacher has another experience of being screwed by Atmel.
3) http://www.8052.com/forum/read.phtml?id=145671
4) http://www.8052.com/forum/read.phtml?id=145716
5) THE reason: as seen in the umpteen posts here and elsewhere, their 'SPI ISP' stinks.
6) This may change gradually now the Perlegos'es ("we can do nothing wrong") have been ousted, we will need to wait and see.
