Your point on not using a regulated supply to feed LEDs is well taken. However, using an unregulated supply also means that the current through the LED -and thus its brightness- will vary directly with this voltage. For systems that can accept a wide range of supply voltages, this may well be unacceptable. Again I would like to point to the existence of low-current LEDs which are very well visible with as little as 2mA and can keep the current requirements to a minimum. Regards, Rob. |
