#40181 - RE: Connecting an LED to an 8052 Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Chris:
After you make a new LED document page why don't you email it to me so I can design review it for you. I can annotate it for you or edit it for correctness. The new version of the page has quite a number of problems, some of which Steve has tried to point out. It is also my honest opinion that the ideas of driving LEDs off some other supply is an old fashioned idea from old engineers who used to deal with driving incandescant bulbs at 200 mA each or OLD LEDs that took 50 mA just to get a small blip of light out. Also it is rare these days to have systems with dozens of LEDs. Almost always an LCD is used instead. That said for most projects the LEDs, few in number, low in current, may just as well be driven from the local power supply. Particularly if you are running on +5 volts. I think that a page should be simple and provide basic information for beginners. Anybody that needs more sophistication is probably already well on their way to understanding the transistor circuits and can adapt the simpler ideas that you will have on a final version of your page. Looking forward to review should you desire it. Michael Karas |
