Why is that the PICs ( specially 16F84) has become so popular. even though we have a huge wealth of information and code available for 8051 and its smaller derivatives ( like AT89C2051) having almost identical power. and in some manner the smaller 8051 derivatives have timers and uart built in. only thing missing is a ADC ( but it has a on chip comparator). and some programmer difference

Why dont we start something like converting every application available out there for PIC to 8051.
