Jeez guys, I didn't mean to start a war. Mike is absolutely right in that a table constructed his way would be the simplest basis for a control algo. I simply pointed out that the function, as listed, seemed to suggest a cosine relationship, and therefore would provide a simple model to build the initial table.

Since we are dealing with a complex mechanical system, and since the sensor is located at the actuator, not the ultimate moved object, the relationship between the actuator/sensor and the blade is going to be a little vague. There's gonna be a lot of mechanical backlash and play in all of that linkage. What I'm trying to say is that the position of the actuator can be determined accurately, but not the blade itself.
