There is an email (in this link http://www.fullnet.com/u/tomg/gooteepc.htm) from a fellow who uses overhead transparency to make printed circuit board. Read it, He gives part numbers of the HP transparency.

We don't have a staples locally so I went to a good supply house and got a sample of Kodak latest greatest photographic paper and tried it. It was acceptable but I didn't use enough pressure to get the fantastic results. Lesson, probably any kind of photographic paper will work and enough pressure.

I was shocked to see how much effort it took to rub the paper off. I would have thought the foils would have gotten rub off but they didn't.

My next board I will use the overhead Transparency. It is only $0.18/sheet and I can get it singles sheets. To save from using an entire sheet I just print the pattern on a regular sheet of paper and then cut out a piece of transparency and stick it down with masking tape.

To get the alignment of double sided boards I do one side first (etch, drill holes) and then use the holes as an alignment. I just hold up to board to a bright light and position the other side until the holes align up. Sometimes I put tape on the pattern to help me move it around. This work good for me.

The software to bang out the pattern Circad ( http://www.holophase.com/ ) is really easy to use and has all of the latest surface mount foot prints. A little effort and you can have a pattern and board in lickly split.
