Yes I am from Chennai and am safe physically. The place I live is 12km from the coast line. I anyway was woken up on Sunday morning by the mild tremor and took some to come to terms. But what happened shortly there after, left all of us here shell shocked.

I have only read about tsunamis and till date, have never visualized thier power to destroy so much in so short a time and without warning. Unlike a storm which arrives with due warning most of the time and gives some chance to run for cover, this tsunami stuff is deadly in the swiftness with which it converted a vibrant coastline into a graveyard in a matter of seconds.

I also would like to express my sincere thanks to you, and all the others members who had sent in personal E-Mails expressing concern.
