#86505 - MAX691+battery
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Hi.

My Maxim spec sheet for the MAX691A says the prop delay is 6-10nS
Well, here's the link to the very pdf in maxim web site: http://pdfserv.maxim-ic.com/en/ds/MAX...MAX695.pdf
Page 8, the two last paragraphs in the bottom right. Of course the link refers to a MAX691 not MAX691A, and as you and Kai mentioned it's prop. delay sounds good. Hope the 691A version sold in the electronic bazaar here, pray for me! Have a glance at the second paragraph of the pdf of which I ain't understand nothing!

clock rate or the type of sram
11.0592 + 70ns SRAM

That's your decision
By not using the feature, I meant let the /CS pin of SRAM be connected to the decoder circuit as before and just pull-up this line to Vo of MAX691. Is it not all that that MAX691 configuration does (Of course in a system that uses just one SRAM)Is anything wrong with this configuration?

Personally, try to avoid battery backed up designs where possible
will do, but: I need some means of storing the data sent from compy to the LED display. EEPROMs like 28C512 are too slow to write to in a serial ISR unless @ ~300bps. FLASHs like 29F512 have the silly sector erase structure, FLASHs like 28F512 (my second best alternative) can be written to byte-by-byte but suffer from the need to be erased prior to write, NVRAMs like DS1245 or MZ48Tsomething are not found here, and the same story applies to FRAMs so I ended up with the lousy SRAM+battery solution. Got any better idea? By the way the SRAM will be something like 621000...I ain't decided yet.

please try to be specific
Sure, will do.

Best.
