#87674 - "Discount" bare boards Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Hi Erik,
I have personal experience with these "discount" offers for bare boards, including from PCBnet.com, and from Accutrace, etc.. The advertised prices are deceptive. As you point out, you get boards for $40 each, if you order a dozen! So if you only need a single prototype, it will cost you $480. I have never gotten a board from any of these places for under $300. Moreover, the "fine print" requirements to qualify for the "special price" is extensive. There is someone there who's job it is to take your gerber data and find a reason to disqualify your job for the discount price. Okay, maybe I'm being a bit hyperbolic, but more than once I've submitted jobs to these places only to get emails explaining why my board didn't qualify and offering to build it for their normal price. That's why I ended up buying a circuit board router/plotter from LPKF. |
