#91596 - Fast Square.
Dear Forum Members,

I have started working on a project where I will be using a 10bit ADC with LPC932A1. The data samples collected [ 10 bit ] from ADC needs to be squared for further processing. For storing 10bit sample I will be using an unsigned integer [ 16 bit ].

8051 designers have included MUL instruction in the Instruction set. which is very helpful for multiplying 8 bit numbers and thus squaring 8 bit numbers is very fast. I am looking for some faster algoritham that can be implemented to square 10 bit numbers. The unsigned integer multiplication [ keil ] could be used but it takes a lot of instruction cycles I want to implement something a bit faster. I am not asking for code but alogiritham.

Thanks & Regards,
Prahlad J. Purohit
