I'm the one that put the -1 score on your original posting. I did so because your posting gives the inference that it is possible to perform single 10x10 multiplies faster when pipelining is used. However, using the words of Jez, this is rubbish. Pipelining can only hope to achieve faster AVERAGE results at the expense of net increased complexity, latency, and power dissapation.
It is the misleading nature of the posting that got you the -1 score. I felt that if you knew the difference you would have qualified this more carefully in the posting. However when I read what you wrote it is not at all clear to me that you fully understand what is going on with pipelining and so I stand on my giving the -1 score. Michael Karas |
