#91946 - a bit late with that thought Responding to: ???'s previous message |
FOr this purpose a alternative is 16/32 bit 51 series architect based MCU
you are a bit late with that thought. I worked on the Philips "16 bit '51", the XA more than 5 years ago. At that time the Intel 251 and the Siemens 16x were available as well. However today, the "new standard" is the ARM. This, however, I am sure, will not lead to the demise of the '51, only the high end derivatives will be in trouble e.g. a SILabs f12x cost more than an ARM. There must be a lesson here: the "old standard" is the '51 (multisource) and the "new standard" is the ARM (multisource). It is my impression and belief that the "16 bit '51"s will never become more than a stopgap. Erik |
