Well, it's all good, but how 8051-oriented are they? Not very over the course of the entire time. In perspective, maybe 2 direct 8051 courses over a total of 100 courses. But as I stated, I don't think there would be any shorter program that offered a more focused approach to just 8051. Payam Soltany said:
Is it probable that they offer some A.Sc? I don't want a four-year course. Nope, not there. At least not a program that covers 8051. There are other Asc degrees ofered there, but none that cover 8051. But you could enroll and take the first year, which would provide all 2-3 8051 courses and then stop attending. Maybe a solution? DeVry Institute of Technology Irving is the nearest DeVry to Dallas I found in Encarta. Any DeVry in Dallas?
It's of great importance to me to determine the target country/region/univ. first. The target region is now somehow clear now: Dallas, TX And the candidate target colleges, Let's see what we have... . Dallas, TX Capmus . University of Texas at Dallas . Dallas Baptist University ;) . Paul Quinn College . Southern Methodist University . The Criswell College comments? Yes, Irving is the Dallas location. Dallas is surrounded by many cities that are collectively referred to as "Dallas". Irving is the specific city where DeVry is. University of Texas At Arlington is another good area EE program, but it's going to be a more traditional 4-year program. I don't know what there 8051 coverage is, if any. The other colleges you mentioned either don'thave good EE programs or are all 4-year schools. Also, ITT I believe has a location in this area (or maybe 2?). Payam Soltany said:
Sad news.
I'm 30. Don't have enough time for a diverse set of courses. Reading Any unrelated stuff that can be postponned to when it migh come handy makes me sick. Unfortunatly you won't find much that will meet those needs. All programs that I am aware of will be "general" electronics and will offer very little specific 8051 material. DeVryITT is the shortest timeframe available that I am aware of. 9 semesters (3 years with no summer vacation) is no laughing matter so keep this in mind. Can you justify 3 years for 2% of direct 8051 teaching? Payam Soltany said:
That's it, Dallas. Period. This second post of yours Tomas, was incredible. Openned new horizons to me. The 'latest version' of my target: A short term (A.Sc. probabely) "best bet for 8051 study" univ./college not-expensive(~10k max.) course 'room&board' included in Dallas wich apparently gives time/access to a half-time 8051 job. Unfortunatly, I don't know of a Dallas school (or any school in the US period) that offers a 1-2 year EE-style degree that mostly is tailored to embedded individuals. DeVry's offering contains mostly general topics as well...I think all schools in the US will. I think your best bet would be to go for a 2 year Asc degree in whatever and study 8051 on your own. I think it's the best your going to do. I don't think you can justify taking 3 years of courses at DeVry with 2% being very good 8051 coverage based on the information above. Cheers |
